What side effects should I be expecting from taking Lovenox?

Signs of Lovenox (enoxaparin) allergy: difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER). 

Seek urgent medical care if you experience any of the following symptoms as they can be signs of a spinal blood clot:

• Unusual back pain
• Numbness, weakness in the lower body
• Loss of bladder or bowel control

Call your doctor immediately if you have:

• Signs of a brain bleed: sudden severe headache, slurred speech, vision problems, sudden body weakness, especially on one side of the body.
• Signs of anemia (low red blood cells): unusual fatigue, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, pale skin, and cold extremities
• Unusual bleeding or bleeding that does not stop
• Unusual or easy bruising, purplish or reddish spots under the skin
• Abnormal vaginal bleeding (not menstrual cycle)
• Bloody urine or stools
• Nosebleeds, bleeding gums that will not stop
• Coughing up blood or bloody vomit, which can be bright red or dark brown like coffee grounds

Common side effects of Lovenox:

• Pain, bruising, or irritation at injection sites 
• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Anemia
• Confusion
