Amlodipine-Benazepril (Lotrel) Uses
The combination of amlodipine and benazepril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in people who have failed to achieve the desired antihypertensive effect on one of these medications alone or who developed edema (swelling) when taking amlodipine alone.
There may be other uses of amlodipine and benazepril—your pharmacist or doctor can give you further drug information.
Amlodipine-Benazepril (Lotrel) Mechanism of Action
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker and it widens blood vessels. Benazepril is an ACE inhibitor that blocks a chemical that tightens blood vessels. Together, the combination of amlodipine and benazepril improves blood flow and reduces the workload of the heart.
